What is Cognition ?

Cognition is the mental process of behaving, rational thinking, action-taking, memory, awareness, and judgment. As age grows, people experience cognitive function losses. Speech therapy directed towards alteration in speech and vocal coordination loss due to cognitive changes is called cognitive speech therapy. Due to attention span loss, concentration, and orientation loss, a person’s normal speech articulation can be affected, resulting in repeated speech, disoriented speech, mumbled speech, and more. Cognitive speech therapy includes brain exercises, speech, and vocal exercises, cognitive health improvement exercises, medication toward the underlying mental problem if any, and regular support.
