Also called as Acute Otitis Media, this is an infection affecting the middle ear. It mostly occurs in children and can clean up on its own but it does persist in severe cases. The child may present with pain and tenderness over the ear making them more fussy and irritated. The pain increases while lying down, resulting in increased pain in night. The child tugs at their ears while sleeping and may also have trouble maintaining balance, hearing, fever and/or secretions from the ear.
