What is Rhytidectomy ?

Also known as a Face-Lift, Rhytidectomy is a cosmetic surgical procedure to counteract aging and age-related facial drooping. The procedure is done to remove wrinkles from the forehead, cheeks, jawline, neck around the eyes and nose, and the mouth regions of the face and tighten the skin around these areas making the individual look a few years younger. It can be performed with an eyebrow lift (blepharoplasty), a forehead lift, or a nose surgery (rhinoplasty) for better results. A neck lift or platysmoplasty is the most common cosmetic surgery done alongside a facelift. The skin is pulled back during the surgery, and the underlying tissues are lifted and sutured back in a tighter position.

What is Hysterectomy?

A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus, and most likely, the cervix. Depending on the reason for the surgery, a hysterectomy may involve removing surrounding organs and tissues, such as the fallopian tubes and ovaries. The uterus is where a baby grows during pregnancy. It’s lining is the blood you shed during your menstrual period. You lose the ability to get pregnant and you will not get your period after a hysterectomy.

How is it done?

Under Anesthesia, an incision is made along the hairline from the temple to the ear and around the earlobe. These incisions will be done in natural crease lines of the face to minimize scar visualization.
If a neck lift is being performed, an incision is given under the shin.
After elevating the skin and the first layer of tissues, the second layer of tissues is lifted and sutured in close approximation from the upper face. This results in the tissues and skin of the ace being ‘lifted’ and tightened
For a neck lift, the platysma muscle located near the neck will be dissected and the underlying tissues pulled and sutured in the same manner.
Excess skin will be trimmed and excised. The open ends will be sutured together and tight dressing will be done. The patient will be kept on medication, ointments and botox injections if required.
