What is Vitreoretina, Uvea & ROP ?

Vitreoretinal diseases affect the back of the eye and are due to changes in the fluid present inside the eye called vitreal fluid. They are a group of diseases that include conditions like muscular degeneration, retinal tear, macular hole, diabetic retinopathy, and more, with symptoms like night blindness, pain, peripheral vision loss, spotty vision, etc, Uvea is the middle layer of the wall of the eye. Infection and inflammation of the uvea can also result in impaired vision. It can even lead to complete vision loss. ROP or Retinopathy of Prematurity is the eye disease seen in pre-maturely born children. The disease may cure itself as the infant grows but regular ophthalmic visits and treatment are advised.
